The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Friday visited several polling units across Abuja to monitor the conduct of the ongoing Area Council elections.
The minister toured polling centres within the Abuja Municipal Area Council, including locations in Karu, Karshi and Garki. Footage shared by his media team showed him moving between polling units, observing voting procedures and engaging briefly with election officials.
Voters were seen arriving steadily at the polling stations to cast their ballots, while security personnel were deployed across the areas to maintain order and ensure a peaceful exercise. Officials of the electoral body were also present to coordinate activities at the centres visited.
Reports from the polling units indicated that the exercise was progressing smoothly, with a generally calm atmosphere and no major incidents recorded as of the time of the inspection.
The Area Council elections are aimed at choosing grassroots representatives who will oversee local administration across the Federal Capital Territory.
