President Bola Tinubu formally received India’s newly appointed High Commissioner to Nigeria, Abhishek Singh, during a ceremony at the Presidential Villa on Thursday.
The presentation of the Letter of Credence marked the official start of Singh’s diplomatic role in Nigeria. Speaking at the event, President Tinubu welcomed the envoy and conveyed his congratulations, wishing him success in his assignment.
Ambassador Singh, outlining his vision for his tenure, emphasized India’s dedication to strengthening its historic ties with Nigeria. He described both countries as strategic partners and expressed optimism about advancing cooperation across multiple sectors.
“The High Commissioner reaffirmed India’s commitment to deepening the strategic partnership and highlighted plans to expand collaboration in the years ahead,” the Indian High Commission said in a statement.
Singh took office on October 9, 2025, after serving as India’s Ambassador to Venezuela between August 2020 and July 2023.
