President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed grief over the passing of Dr. Leon Usigbe, a seasoned journalist and long-serving State House Correspondent with Tribune Newspapers.
Dr. Usigbe died in Abuja on Friday evening after a short illness. In a statement released on Saturday by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, he was remembered as a highly respected journalist known for his professionalism, fairness, and commitment to responsible reporting.
President Tinubu described Usigbe as a calm and thoughtful journalist whose contributions helped inform the public about the presidency and government affairs. He noted that Usigbe’s work played a vital role in supporting Nigeria’s democratic development.
Offering condolences to his family, colleagues, and the entire State House Press Corps, the President prayed for strength for those grieving and for the late journalist to find eternal rest.
