Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu, has declared his intention to contest the Oyo State governorship seat in the 2027 general elections. As part of his early preparations, he held strategic meetings with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogbomoso and Oyo zones.
During a meeting in Ogbomoso at the home of APC chieftain Chief Ayoade Adeseun, Adelabu assured party members that the selection of the party’s candidate for the election would be fair and transparent, stressing that no aspirant would be imposed.
He expressed confidence in his capacity to contest and win the election, while also urging reconciliation among party members. Adelabu said his decision to run was based on experience gained from two previous campaigns and a strong desire to serve the people of Oyo.
Highlighting the importance of Ogbomoso to APC’s electoral chances, he commended the growing cooperation among political groups in the area. He also declared his support for President Bola Tinubu’s possible re-election bid, saying it was a chance for the Yoruba to complete a two-term presidency and for Nigeria to benefit from continuity.
In a separate visit to Oyo town, Adelabu reiterated his commitment to inclusive governance and described Oyo as a vital part of the state, deserving of greater recognition and development.
In their remarks, party leaders including Chief Adeseun and Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala called for unity within the party and encouraged members to work together to reclaim power from the ruling PDP in 2027.
The meetings are part of Adelabu’s early campaign efforts to rally support and build momentum within the APC ahead of the election.
