The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State is set to officially launch its campaign for the July 12 local government elections on Tuesday, June 17, at the State Secretariat in Ogba.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the party’s spokesperson, Mogaji Oluseye Oladejo, who confirmed that the campaign would be flagged off with the presentation of candidates and a symbolic flag handover ceremony.
According to Oladejo, the campaign will be decentralized across the three senatorial districts—Lagos East, Central, and West—with Lagos West split into two zones due to its size.
“The flag-off ceremony will be witnessed by party chieftains, elected and appointed officials of the party across the three tiers of government,” the statement read.
“We have also directed our local government leadership to form Local Organizing Committees (LOCs) to take the campaign to all the nooks, crannies, and corners of the state to ensure effective and massive mobilization.”
The APC also emphasized the importance of citizen participation in the electoral process:
“We wish to seize this opportunity to urge all voters to endeavor to perform their civic responsibility on the day of the elections to further grow our nascent democracy.”
Candidates for Chairmanship, Vice Chairmanship, and Councilorship across the 20 Local Government Councils, 37 Local Council Development Areas, and 377 wards had earlier emerged from the party primaries.
The party says its campaign will focus on showcasing the “unprecedented landmark achievements” of the outgoing administrations at the council level, along with ongoing social interventions and a renewed promise to deliver more under its progressive agenda.
The campaign is scheduled to end on July 11, a day before the elections, in line with electoral guidelines.
