The wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged the Delta State College of Nursing Sciences to approach the situation involving students who made a playful twist to a welcome song during her recent visit with fairness and understanding.
In a statement issued on Friday, Mrs. Tinubu called for a balanced approach, emphasizing the importance of maintaining both discipline and students’ freedom of expression.
The incident, which went viral on social media, led to the students being issued a query by the college’s management.
“The Office of the First Lady believes that educational institutions should foster an environment where students feel safe to express themselves while maintaining decorum,” the statement read.
Senator Tinubu also expressed appreciation for the warm reception she received during the event in Asaba, where the First Lady of Nigeria donated 10,000 professional kits to midwives as part of the Renewed Hope Initiative.
She further urged the college to ensure the students are treated fairly and given the space to express themselves in a positive manner.
“We trust that the Delta State College of Nursing Sciences will handle this matter with understanding and fairness,” she added.
