Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke cast his vote early this morning in the local government election, affirming the Osun State government’s commitment to proceed with the exercise despite calls for suspension.
The governor, who voted at Unit 9, Ward 2 in Ede North Local Government Area, exercised his right at 8 a.m. on Saturday, showing his support for the election’s continuation.
Speaking after voting, Adeleke emphasized, “The election will continue as scheduled. We are committed to upholding democracy and ensuring the people’s voices are heard.”
This decision came despite the recommendations of the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, and the Nigeria Police Force, who had urged the postponement of the poll due to security concerns.
The local government election in Osun is currently underway, with more updates expected as the day unfolds.
