Samuel Nwajaju, a 23-year-old Nigerian model and University of Port Harcourt student, has made history by becoming the first African to win the prestigious Mister International pageant.
The 16th edition of the competition, held in Bangkok, Thailand, saw Nwajaju outperform 47 other contestants, marking the largest participation in the event’s history.
Founded in 2006 by the late Alan Sim, Mister International is one of the most esteemed male beauty pageants worldwide, second only to Mister World in terms of global scope.
This year’s competition was historic in another way as it allowed fathers, married, and divorced men to compete for the first time in its 16-year history.
Nwajaju’s path to victory began in June when he clinched the title of Mister Nigeria 2024 at the Lagos Oriental Hotel.
At the international stage, he distinguished himself with his charisma and poise, also winning the Best Swimwear category.
His triumph placed him ahead of formidable contenders, including Nguyễn Mạnh Lân from Vietnam, the first runner-up, and Glenn Victor Sutanto from Indonesia, the second runner-up.
While the cash prize for the Mister International title remains undisclosed, winners are granted global recognition, opening doors to sponsorships, endorsements, and collaborations with major brands.
They also engage in charitable and promotional events worldwide, serving as ambassadors for cultural exchange and international goodwill.
Nwajaju succeeds Kim Thitisan Goodburn of Thailand, taking on a role that embodies global representation.
