Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have vowed to unseat the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the federal level in 2027.

The governors declared this vow during the gala night held at the International Conference Centre of the University of Ibadan on Sunday night.

The programme was hosted by the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde.

The Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed; Ahmad Fintiri of Adamawa State; Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah; Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke; Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutgwang; Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas; and the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal.

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, was represented by his deputy, Akon Eyakenyi.

The Deputy Governor of Delta, Monday Onyeme, also represented the governor of the state, Sheriff Oborevwori.

In his welcome address, Governor Makinde expressed confidence that the PDP will resolve its internal issues and form the next government at the federal level in 2027.

”The PDP is going to be where we want it to be. This is the party that will form the next government in the country. I have said it before that 2027 is between the APC and the people of Nigeria,” Makinde said.

The Bauchi State governor corroborated his Oyo State counterpart, noting that the party is set to form the next government at the federal level.

The Bauchi State Governor said, “By 2027 by the grace of God, we shall take over the reign of leadership in this country, because Nigerians have learnt and they know what is all about”.

Mohammed also expressed unwavering support for Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who was recently suspended due to ongoing political instability in the state.

He said, ”Even in Rivers State, where we had hiccups recently, we want to assure you that all the governors of the PDP are backing Governor Fubara to ensure he comes back and continues his good work”.
