Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has credited President Bola Tinubu’s intervention for his return to office after a six-month emergency rule. Fubara revealed this during the combined 37th and 38th convocation ceremony of Rivers State University in Port Harcourt.
According to Fubara, his administration’s challenges stemmed from the temporary interruption of democracy in the state earlier in the year. The emergency rule was imposed by President Tinubu following a standoff between Fubara and the state legislature.
Fubara’s administration has committed to fulfilling financial obligations to the university, closing infrastructural gaps, improving security, and enhancing welfare for students and staff. He emphasized education’s importance for national development and encouraged graduates to seize emerging opportunities.
The governor praised the university’s progress under the current Vice-Chancellor and urged the institution to intensify research and innovation efforts. Fubara congratulated the 13,242 graduates who earned degrees, diplomas, and certificates during the combined convocation, expressing appreciation to parents, guardians, and staff for supporting the students’ academic journey.
