Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly targeting Illia Zabarnyi, the highly-rated central defender from Bournemouth, as they look to strengthen their defense.

The Ukrainian international has been in impressive form this season, which has led to growing interest from multiple top clubs, including PSG, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite recently extending his contract with Bournemouth until 2029, Zabarnyi could still be on the move if the right offer comes in. According to reports, the club is willing to entertain bids of around £50 million for the 21-year-old.

Initial talks between PSG and Zabarnyi have already taken place, according to L’Équipe, but a potential deal could face hurdles due to the presence of Russian goalkeeper Matvei Safonov in PSG’s squad. This could complicate any move given the current political climate.

Mick Brown, former chief scout for Manchester United and Blackburn, believes that a transfer could go through as early as January, especially with the significant interest from high-profile clubs like PSG and Manchester City.

“If they get a really huge offer I think they’ll let him go,” Brown told Football Insider. “With teams like Man City and PSG interested, you know there’s going to be big money on the table.

“City have been looking to add quality to their defense, he’s young and he has experience at the top level as well, so he definitely fits their profile.

He’s been really impressive so far this season, which is why he’s attracting this interest.

“Bournemouth have some very interesting younger players, like Zabarnyi, who could be long-term targets for a lot of the top teams.”
