I Made a Mistake – Nollywood Actress Speaks on Supporting Tinubu

Nollywood actress Bukky Raji, popularly known as Aminatu Papapa, has opened up about a political decision she now considers her biggest mistake — campaigning for President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 elections.

In a candid interview on YouTube, the actress shared her disappointment over the state of the country and admitted that her past endorsement came from a place of hope, not personal gain.

According to Raji, her involvement in the campaign was driven by her belief that Tinubu’s administration would bring relief to struggling traders like herself. Having built a rice business from the ground up, she said she hoped a new government would reopen borders and stabilize trade. Instead, she says, the reverse has happened.

“I believed things would improve,” she reflected. “But now, everyone is feeling the heat — whether you supported him or not.”

The actress also revealed that she was never compensated for her political involvement, noting that internal rifts among colleagues derailed any attempts at transparency within the campaign team. She clarified that her public apology wasn’t prompted by criticism but by personal reflection.

Raji previously defended her support for the president during a public clash with fellow actress Adunni Ade, who had questioned the motives of celebrities involved in the campaign. Back then, Raji stood firm. Now, she admits she was wrong.

“I’ve seen the reality on the ground. People are struggling. That’s why I’m saying this — not for attention, but because I need to own up to my mistake.”

Her remarks have sparked fresh conversations online about accountability, celebrity influence, and the growing frustrations among Nigerians facing daily economic hardship.
