The United Kingdom has warned against all but essential travel to Nigeria’s capital, Abuja.

In an updated travel advice, the British government listed states its citizens should avoid.

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advises against all travel to Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe, Kaduna.

Others are Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Katsina and Zamfara states.

The FCDO cautioned against all but essential travel to Abia, Bauchi, Kano, Jigawa, Niger, Sokoto, Plateau, Taraba, Kogi, within 20km of the border with Niger in Kebbi,

The advisory said terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in Nigeria.

“The risk of terrorism includes the capital city Abuja, and the surrounding Federal Capital Territory area. This risk has increased in 2022.”

It added that the attacks are usually indiscriminate and could affect western interests and tourist places.
