Several parts of Abuja will be without electricity for several hours on Sunday as the Transmission Company of Nigeria carries out scheduled maintenance at the Apo Transmission Substation.
The exercise, which is expected to run from 9am to 5pm, will involve work on the two 132kV Katampe-Apo transmission lines.
According to TCN, the maintenance will involve the installation and securing of Optical Ground Wire between towers T130 and T132.
Residents and businesses in Lugbe, Garki, Area 1, National Hospital, Guzape, Asokoro and neighbouring communities are expected to be affected.
TCN explained that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company will be unable to receive power from the affected transmission lines during the maintenance period.
The company said the work is necessary to improve the reliability of the transmission network and assured consumers that electricity would be restored once the exercise is completed.
TCN apologised to residents and other electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience caused by the temporary outage.
