The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has set its sights on mobilising one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, despite the party’s defeat in the recent governorship poll.

The commitment was made during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting where party leaders assessed the outcome of the August 15 governorship election and discussed strategies for rebuilding the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

The meeting also produced a vote of confidence in the leadership of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola.

The motion, moved by former Osun State House of Assembly member, Kamil Oyedele, and seconded by Oyetunji Agunbiade, was backed by party stakeholders who praised Oyetola’s experience and leadership.

APC’s governorship candidate in the election, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, urged members to set aside their differences and focus on rebuilding the party.

Oyebamiji said strengthening the party’s grassroots structures and reconciling aggrieved members would be crucial to improving its chances in future elections.

He also stressed the importance of unity within the APC as the party prepares to campaign for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Oyetola, in his remarks, acknowledged the challenges facing the party but said the APC could regain its political strength through reconciliation, dialogue and effective mobilisation.

He appealed to dissatisfied members to return to the party, arguing that internal division could undermine the APC’s chances in the next general election.

The stakeholders resolved to intensify efforts to rebuild the party from the grassroots and work towards securing substantial support for Tinubu across Osun State.

The APC’s renewed mobilisation drive comes after its candidate, Oyebamiji, lost the 2026 governorship election to incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke the winner after he secured 511,067 votes, while Oyebamiji received 444,815 votes.
