Hanks Anuku, the Nollywood actor, has responded to a viral video showing him in an apparent distressed state, urging Nigerians to direct their attention to the country’s challenges rather than his personal life.
The clip, which has circulated widely on social media, shows the actor wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, and red sneakers, appearing disoriented and speaking to himself as onlookers gathered.
Passers-by are heard debating the cause of his condition, with one woman urgently pleading for public assistance, saying, “You guys should do something. This is very important”.
In a subsequent video, Anuku dismissed the attention surrounding the footage and maintained that he is doing well.
The actor questioned why many people were fixated on his personal life and reiterated that he is fine, urging the public to cease interfering.
“Straight up. You all have seen nothing yet. You all keep talking,” he said.
“You all need to face the government and leave me the hell alone. I am good. Do your thing and leave me alone, leave me the hell alone.
“You all don’t have anything better to do? Go and do something.”
This incident marks the second public episode for Anuku in recent years. In 2022, similar footage emerged showing him in tattered clothing roaming the streets.
The actor later clarified that the video was from a movie set and accused those sharing it of attempting to destroy his image.
