A number of renowned Congolese musicians are set to perform in Belgium at a special concert marking the Democratic Republic of Congo’s 66th Independence Day.
The event will take place on June 28 during the Couleur Café Festival in Brussels and will bring together veteran and emerging artists to celebrate Congolese culture and music.
Among the performers expected at the concert are legendary rumba group Zaïko Langa Langa, ndombolo singer Ntaba 2 London, and Belgian rapper Fresh. Organisers say the show will showcase the richness of Congolese music while promoting unity among Congolese communities abroad.
The concert is being organised by Solidarité Congo, a collective of members of the Congolese diaspora and music industry figures. Beyond the performances, the initiative aims to raise awareness about the humanitarian challenges facing eastern DR Congo.
Festival organisers have also planned activities to educate attendees about the situation in the region, with donations collected during the event expected to support community projects in North Kivu.
The concert comes ahead of Congo’s Independence Day on June 30, commemorating the country’s independence from Belgium in 1960. Organisers say the event will serve as both a cultural celebration and a show of solidarity with communities affected by conflict back home.
