A Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has scheduled June 9, 2026, to decide whether social media personality Blessing Nkiruka Okoro will be granted bail in an ongoing fraud case brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Okoro is facing trial over allegations that she received about ₦36 million in a property-related transaction said to involve false representation. She has denied wrongdoing.

During Thursday’s proceedings, her lawyer asked the court to release her on bail, arguing that she has cooperated through legal representation and provided required documents in support of the request.

However, the EFCC opposed the application, insisting that she had previously failed to respond to official invitations during the investigation. The commission urged the court to deny bail and allow the trial to proceed swiftly.

An EFCC investigator who testified earlier told the court that the disputed funds were paid for a property lease which, according to official land records, did not belong to the defendant. The witness also said bank records showed multiple transfers linked to the funds after they were received.

The defence challenged the admissibility of some statements presented in court, arguing they were taken without proper legal safeguards. The judge, however, admitted the documents as evidence, citing provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act.

The court has adjourned further hearing on the matter until June 22, 2026, when the trial is expected to continue.
