Afrobeats star Davido has called on fellow entertainers in Nigeria to take a firmer stand against rising insecurity and injustice in the country, saying public silence is no longer acceptable.

In a series of posts shared on X on Saturday, the singer admitted that members of the entertainment industry, including himself, have not been vocal enough on pressing national issues affecting citizens.

He stressed that while public figures often face criticism whether they speak out or remain silent, they should still prioritise expressing their personal convictions on matters affecting the nation.

Davido also expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation, describing recent incidents of violence and abductions as distressing and unacceptable. He extended his sympathy to victims and families affected by such tragedies.

His comments come amid renewed national debate over the role of celebrities in speaking on governance and security issues, especially following recent school attacks and kidnappings in parts of the country.

The singer’s remarks have since sparked reactions online, with supporters praising his honesty, while others continue to debate whether entertainers should be more politically active or focus solely on their craft.
