Monday Okpebholo has expressed confidence that Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure massive support from Edo State in the 2027 presidential election, saying the state is ready to deliver 2.5 million votes for the president.
The governor made the declaration after taking part in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary election held in Ward 2, Udomi, in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State.
Speaking after the exercise, Okpebholo said the large turnout of party members and the peaceful conduct of the primary reflected growing support for Tinubu and the APC across the state.
According to him, residents turned out enthusiastically to vote during the primary, which he described as a sign of what to expect during the 2027 general election.
The governor maintained that the APC remains strong in Edo and insisted that delivering millions of votes for Tinubu is achievable despite doubts from critics.
He also linked the party’s growing popularity to ongoing projects in areas such as road construction, healthcare, education, and rural development.
Okpebholo said many residents now see a connection between development projects in the state and the policies of the Federal Government.
The APC primary in the ward was conducted using the Option A4 voting system approved by the party’s National Working Committee.
The returning officer for the exercise, Ehimegbe Favour, said party members were accredited with their membership cards before voting openly under the system.
Favour disclosed that Tinubu received 360 votes in the ward to emerge winner of the presidential primary. He added that the voting method ensured transparency because both voting and counting were done openly before party members and observers.
