President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu on Saturday took part in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary held in Ikoyi, Lagos, as the ruling party began its nationwide exercise ahead of the 2027 general election.

The president and his wife arrived at the Ward E polling venue amid tight security and a large turnout of party supporters, journalists, and APC members gathered for the exercise.

Videos from the scene showed the couple making their way through enthusiastic crowds dressed in party colours and traditional outfits as voting commenced in the Lagos ward.

The primary is part of the APC’s ongoing ward-level process aimed at selecting its presidential candidate for the 2027 election, with Tinubu seeking another term under the party’s platform.

Speaking after casting his vote, Tinubu described the exercise as a reflection of democratic participation within the party, saying members at the grassroots level were actively involved in the process.

He expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the primaries across the country and commended APC governors for overseeing what he called a peaceful and organised exercise in their various states.

According to the president, the process from congresses and delegate accreditation to voter validation and certification had progressed smoothly nationwide.

Tinubu added that the exercise demonstrated a strong commitment to internal democracy within the party.
