Global music icons Madonna, Shakira, and K-pop supergroup BTS will co-headline the first-ever Super Bowl-style halftime show at the FIFA World Cup final in New Jersey on 19 July.

The tournament, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will conclude with the landmark final, which for the first time will feature a halftime entertainment segment modeled on American football’s Super Bowl spectacle.

Shakira, a longtime World Cup performer, is also set to release her official tournament track Dai Dai, an Italian phrase meaning “let’s go” or “come on”, on Thursday.

The song features Burna Boy. Shakira previously contributed the global hit Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Madonna, one of the best-selling female artists of all time, is preparing to release her upcoming album Confessions II on 3 July.

She recently returned to the stage with a surprise appearance at Coachella, performing alongside Sabrina Carpenter in a medley of her classic hits.

BTS, meanwhile, remains one of the most successful acts in South Korean music history, with over 45 million albums sold.

The group, which recently resumed activities after completing mandatory military service, is currently preparing for an 85-date world tour during which the World Cup final performance will take place.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino described the halftime show as “a historic moment for the FIFA World Cup, befitting the biggest sporting event in the world.”

The show has been curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin and will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million to improve access to education for children worldwide.
