Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have taken into custody Emmanuel Odiniya, father of reality TV personality Ilebaye Odiniya, following an alleged domestic assault at their residence in Abuja.

The incident drew public attention late Friday after the former Big Brother Naija winner went live on Instagram, visibly distressed and calling for help. A clip from the livestream circulated widely online, prompting concern from viewers.

In a statement on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said officers received a distress alert around midnight from Royal Anchor Estate in Wuye. A patrol team from the Wuye Division, backed by operatives from the Department of Operations, was dispatched immediately.

According to the police, access to the property was initially difficult because the gate was locked. Officers later gained entry at about 2:30 a.m., where they found Ilebaye with noticeable injuries. She and her siblings were evacuated from the scene and taken to NNPC Hospital in Abuja for medical care.

The suspect was arrested at the residence and is currently being held while investigators work to establish the full details of what transpired.

Police assured the public that the matter is under thorough investigation.
