The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a public notice declaring former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar Farouq, wanted in connection with alleged financial misconduct involving public funds.

In the notice released on Saturday, the anti-corruption agency accused the former minister of involvement in alleged criminal conspiracy, misuse of official position, and diversion of government resources during her time in office.

Farouq, who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari between 2019 and 2023, is said to be 52 years old and originally from Zamfara State. The EFCC also provided her last known address in the Maitama area of Abuja.

The commission appealed to Nigerians with credible information regarding her whereabouts to report to any EFCC office nationwide or contact the agency through its official communication channels.

The notice was endorsed by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, who reiterated the agency’s commitment to investigating allegations of corruption and ensuring accountability in public service.

The EFCC listed several of its offices across the country, including locations in Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Kaduna, and Maiduguri, where members of the public can provide information relevant to the case.

The development adds to ongoing investigations into the management of funds under the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs during the previous administration.
