Supporters of Peter Obi have introduced a Hausa-language Afrobeat song as part of early mobilisation efforts for the 2027 general election.

The track, titled “Lokaci” – a Hausa word meaning “this is the time” — was performed by Katsina-born artiste Mr DapBoy and produced by Yunusa Tanko, who used the alias DJ Funky G (80ties) for the project.

Tanko, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, announced the release on his social media platforms, describing the song as a message of unity and renewed political engagement across regions.

According to him, the idea behind the music was to promote national cohesion and encourage broader political participation, particularly among young people in Northern Nigeria. He said the project reflects a growing desire among youths to independently shape their political future.

Tanko also dismissed suggestions that the song was designed to mirror campaign slogans used in previous elections, stating that its purpose is to send a distinct message of inclusion and shared national interest.

He noted that the former Anambra State governor had reacted positively to the song, adding that it follows an earlier campaign-themed track, “ELUUPEE,” which gained traction during the 2023 election season.
