Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has withdrawn from the ongoing custody dispute over his daughter, Imade, citing distressing events during the court proceedings as the reason for his decision.
In a post on X, Davido clarified that he had never pursued full custody of his daughter. His request, he said, was strictly for joint custody, countering earlier public assumptions.
“I never asked for full custody … I asked for joint custody. Nobody won, nobody lost but Imade,” he stated, emphasizing that there was “nothing to celebrate” despite public speculation.
Davido explained that his withdrawal was triggered by references to his late son during court sessions, which he described as a “lowest blow” and unacceptable.
“My daughter will grow up knowing I fought for her … let’s move on. One love!” he added, underlining his continued commitment to her well-being.
The singer also used Instagram to criticise the conduct of the opposing legal team, alleging unprofessional behaviour during the courtroom exchange.
The custody case has drawn attention across social media, with Lagos-based lawyer Maruf Muhammed highlighting tense moments during cross-examination at the Lagos State High C
