Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Conakry, Guinea, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of President-elect Mamady Doumbouya. The ceremony is scheduled to hold on Saturday at the GLC Stadium in Nongo.
On arrival, Shettima was received by senior Guinean government officials and members of the Nigerian diplomatic corps. The visit underscores Nigeria’s role in supporting Guinea’s transition to elected civilian leadership following Doumbouya’s victory in the December 2025 general elections.
According to Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Shettima’s attendance highlights Nigeria’s leadership within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and its commitment to promoting democracy and regional stability.
Nkwocha added that the visit also provides an opportunity to strengthen economic cooperation between Nigeria and Guinea as part of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, which seeks to position Nigeria as a stabilising force in the sub-region.
