Nigerian music superstar Burna Boy has made history at the Grammy Awards, becoming the first Nigerian artist to achieve five career nominations in album categories.
His latest project, No Sign of Weakness (2025), earned a nomination for Best Global Music Album at the upcoming 2025 Grammys. The album will compete alongside works by international stars including Siddhant Bhatia (Sounds of Kumbha), Senegalese icon Youssou N’Dour (Éclairer le monde: Light the World), Shakti (Mind Explosion – 50th Anniversary Tour Live), Anoushka Shankar featuring Alam Khan (Chapter III: We Return to Light), and Brazilian legends Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia (Caetano e Bethânia Ao Vivo).
This milestone adds to Burna Boy’s already impressive Grammy record, following previous album nominations for African Giant (2019), Twice As Tall (2020), Love, Damini (2022), and I Told Them (2023), cementing his status as one of Africa’s leading global music icons.
In addition to his album nomination, Burna Boy also received recognition in the Best African Music Performance category for his hit single Love. Nigerian artists are well-represented in this category, with Davido and Omah Lay nominated for With You, Ayra Starr and Wizkid for Gimme Dat, alongside entries from Eddy Kenzo, Mehran Matin (Hope & Love), and South African singer Tyla (Push 2 Start).
The winners for both categories will be revealed on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena.
