Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, says he is certain of victory in the ongoing governorship election as long as the ballot is allowed to reflect the will of the people.
Soludo made the remark after casting his vote at Ofiyi Square, Polling Unit 002, in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area. He arrived around 1:25 pm, went through accreditation smoothly, and voted shortly after.
Despite his seamless process, the governor noted that hundreds of voters were still waiting in line at the same polling centre due to the availability of only one BVAS device, which slowed down accreditation.
Speaking with journalists, he described the election as largely peaceful but acknowledged receiving reports of technical hitches from different parts of the state, including malfunctioning BVAS machines in some riverine communities.
He also alleged that some candidates were attempting to influence voters through cash inducements, pointing to reports from Nnewi South where money was allegedly being distributed to sway votes.
Soludo said such actions would not derail the outcome, insisting that the people would vote according to their choice. He expressed strong optimism that he would secure a decisive win if the process remained transparent.
He urged voters to stay focused, ignore attempts to buy their support, and ensure their ballots reflect their true preference.
