The Lagos State Government has announced that some major roads will experience temporary traffic adjustments on Sunday, November 2, 2025, as the city hosts the Cycology X Itel Tour de Nigeria Cycling Race.

According to the Lagos State Sports Commission, the 60-kilometre competition will kick off at Dolphin Loop and cover key routes including Osborne Road, Ring Road, Third Mainland Bridge, Iyana Oworo, Gbagada Expressway, Oshodi Oke, and the MMIA Underbridge before looping back to Dolphin Estate for the finish. The event is expected to run between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, urged residents and motorists to plan ahead and make use of designated alternative routes. He explained that those traveling from Ikeja towards Victoria Island should consider using Ikorodu Road through Funsho Williams Avenue and connect via Eko Bridge. Similarly, motorists coming from Mowe or the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway are advised to pass through Ojota Slip Road, link to Ikorodu Road, and continue on Funsho Williams Avenue.

Osiyemi assured the public that the Third Mainland Bridge will remain open throughout the event, although traffic movement will be carefully managed to protect both riders and commuters. He added that adjoining roads along the race route will be opened intermittently to ease flow.

Traffic officers from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Nigeria Police will be deployed along the route to coordinate vehicular movement and maintain public safety.

While acknowledging the temporary inconvenience the race may cause, Osiyemi appealed to motorists for patience, emphasizing that the measures are necessary to ensure a smooth and safe cycling event for participants and residents alike.
