Nigerian travel content creator Alma Asinobi is on the verge of making history as she nears the completion of her record-breaking attempt to travel across all seven continents in just 60 hours.
The 26-year-old, who is the youngest and only Black solo traveler attempting this Guinness World Record, has already crossed six continents and is now headed to her final stop, Sydney, Australia.
Alma’s journey, which began on March 20 from King George Island in Antarctica, has been filled with obstacles, including visa issues and flight delays.
Despite these setbacks, including being denied boarding to Perth, Alma’s determination has kept her on track. She was rebooked on a flight to Sydney, marking her penultimate stop in the record-breaking journey.
“I was tempted to cancel the flight altogether and just head home to where I’m loved, but I’m not one to start something and not finish,” Alma said, sharing her frustration on social media after the boarding denial.
Her record-breaking journey, tagged #AlmaChasingContinents and #7in60, has captured global attention, sparking conversations about passport inequality and the travel barriers faced by citizens of developing countries.
Alma’s final mission is not only a personal achievement but also a symbolic one, as she aims to fly the Nigerian flag on the seventh and final continent.
Reflecting on her journey, Alma shared, “Dear green passport, all the hardships we’ve faced so far, I hope it counts for something.”
