Nigerian music sensation Davido has been selected as one of the featured artists on King Charles III’s new music playlist, which will be showcased in a special Apple Music show.
The playlist, spanning genres from disco to Afrobeats, includes iconic artists from the Commonwealth such as Bob Marley, Kylie Minogue, and Grace Jones.
The playlist, titled The King’s Music Room, was curated by the British monarch himself and will be aired in celebration of Commonwealth Day.
King Charles, who is also the Head of the Commonwealth, described the collection as “the soundtrack of his life,” highlighting the deep connection he shares with music.
In a statement, King Charles III said, “Throughout my life, music has meant a great deal to me. I know that is also the case for so many others. This seemed such an interesting and innovative way to celebrate this year’s Commonwealth Day.”
Davido’s inclusion marks another milestone in the global recognition of Nigerian artists, further solidifying his place on the international stage.
The show, which will air next Monday, brings attention to a diverse range of musical talent from across the Commonwealth, with the monarch expressing his joy in sharing these timelesstunes.
