Former Senator representing Bauchi South, Lawal Yahaya Gumau, has passed away at the age of 57 following a brief illness in Abuja.
Comrade Haruna Usman Muhammad, a former aide to the late senator, confirmed the sad news in a conversation with our correspondent on Saturday morning. “Senator Gumau’s death came as a shock to us all,” Muhammad said.
Senator Gumau was first elected to represent Bauchi South in 2018 after winning a by-election triggered by the death of Senator Ali Wakili. His passing leaves a gap in the political landscape of Bauchi state.
Details of the funeral arrangements are yet to be disclosed.
