Turaki Submits Nomination Form For PDP National Chairmanship

Former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, has officially joined the race for the national chairmanship of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Turaki’s nomination form was submitted to the party’s national secretariat annex in Abuja on Monday by Umar Sani, former spokesman to ex–Vice President Namadi Sambo.

Sani confirmed that the form was properly received and acknowledged by party officials.

“Today is the final day for submission of forms, and I can confirm that we have submitted Turaki’s form. It has been duly acknowledged, and we now await the screening invitation from the party,” he told reporters.

Reacting to reports that former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, was unable to obtain the nomination form earlier in the day, Sani said the issue was unrelated to Turaki’s camp.

“Today was for submission, not sale of forms. If the secretariat couldn’t provide Lamido’s form, that’s not Turaki’s concern,” he said.

Sani further noted that Turaki’s emergence as the North West consensus candidate followed consultations among PDP stakeholders led by Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, with input from other governors in the zone.

“All stakeholders agreed that the governors should decide on a candidate, and they unanimously chose Turaki,” Sani added.

Screening of aspirants for national offices ahead of the PDP national convention is expected to begin later this week.
