Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has openly backed former U.S. President Donald Trump following American airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, calling the move a game-changing moment for the region.
In a recorded message released Sunday, Netanyahu described the U.S. military action as a “historic shift,” suggesting it could pave the way for long-term peace across the Middle East. The strikes targeted Iran’s nuclear enrichment plants in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan.
He credited the show of force as a vital step in confronting what he called “an imminent threat,” and expressed hope that the attack would help neutralize Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Iran, however, has repeatedly denied any intention of building nuclear weapons.
The Israeli leader also revealed that the operation was carried out in close coordination with his government. “This is a turning point,” he said, emphasizing that strength must come before peace can be achieved.
Trump, who had been weighing U.S. involvement in the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict for several days, confirmed the airstrikes in a statement posted to his social media platform.
Tensions between Israel and Iran have surged since June 13, when Israel began a series of bombings against what it claimed were nuclear weapons sites. The latest U.S. action marks a significant escalation and signals deeper military alignment between the two allies.
Reactions from the global community are expected in the coming days as observers assess the long-term impact of the strikes.
