A devastating bomb explosion rocked Kano State on Saturday, leaving five people dead and ten others injured, according to police authorities.
The blast, which occurred in an area reportedly linked to military activity, has sparked panic among residents.
Kano State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Ibrahim, confirmed the tragic event:
“I received a call about the incident that had happened. When I arrived, I found that it was a suspected explosion – possibly an EOD on a military mortar bomb vehicle that exploded,” he said.
The explosion affected 15 people in total, all of whom were rushed to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
“Five died and 10 are receiving treatment,” the Commissioner added.
While investigations are ongoing, Ibrahim disclosed that the vehicle involved came from Yobe State and was likely transporting explosive materials.
“Preliminary findings suggest the explosive material was being transported by a trailer, but it remains unclear whether the vehicle was carrying military personnel or contractors,” he noted.
As of press time, authorities had not yet confirmed the exact cause of the explosion.
The incident follows another deadly bombing in Borno State the same weekend, raising fresh concerns over security and the movement of military-grade explosives across northern Nigeria.
